Lumen Christi Farm

“Where food and faith grow!”

Lumen Christi Farm is a unique Catholic retreat center that reflects the light of Christ by following the example of St. Isidore the Farmer and his wife Blessed Maria.

“In the same way your light must shine before people, so that they will see the good things you do and praise your Father in Heaven.” Matthew 5:16

Our vision is to be a farm where food and faith grow,

At Lumen Christi Farm, we will strive to live the values of Isidore and Maria by:

  • Putting God above everything and trusting in His providence
  • Understanding the importance of family life and the dignity of work
  • Being faithful laborers of the land and caring for animals
  • Having a deep concern for the poor and those in need
  • Being welcoming and hospitable

How does food and faith grow on Lumen Christi Farm?

Our Goals:

1. To ignite a flame of love for Christ in the Eucharist as our food that endures for eternal life. We will do this by being missionary disciples who plant and cultivate the seeds of faith through engaging and creative activities that form people in Catholic teaching and virtue. We will encourage a more committed and deeper participation in the Mass and Sacraments.

“I have come to set the world on fire, and how I wish it were already ablaze!” Luke 12:49

2. To share the Word of God (which is filled with lessons from agriculture) to illuminate the path of life.  We will do this by helping the scriptures come alive through prayer and immersion experiences with nature, food production, and farm animals.

“Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.” Psalm 119

3. To bring the light of Christ to a darkened world. We will do this by helping people connect with the Creator by offering a welcoming place on the farm for prayer, rest, recreation, and healing. We will focus on strengthening the domestic church and growing and nurturing vocations of marriage, priesthood, and religious life.  With a concern for the poor, we will be good stewards of the land and care for animals so we can provide a harvest of food to share with organizations that help those in need.

“I am the light of the world,” he said, “Whoever follows Me will have the light of life and never walk in darkness.” John 8: 12

Our Farming Practices:

Farming makes one attuned to the “heartbeat” of the earth, and thus to the One who created it. Our first assignment as humans in the Garden of Eden was to be responsible for the land and creatures that God created. We believe in being good stewards of the 56 acres and many animals God has given us at Lumen Christi Farm!

Lumen Christi Farm Catholic Retreat Center is a working sheep farm that uses rotational grazing and regenerative practices to sustain our herd on our pastures.

Lumen Christi Farm raises a herd of meat goats in which some of them work to manage invasive species at the farm.

Lumen Christi Farm lovingly grows and harvests a variety of fruits and vegetables in our gardens and orchards.

Lumen Christi Farm raises chickens who provide nutritious eggs in a variety of colors.

Lumen Christi Farm has 2 donkeys, lots of cats and kittens, and a basset hound.

A goal of Lumen Christi Farm Catholic Retreat Center is to donate the meat, eggs, and produce we raise to organizations that help our neighbors in need! There are many ways to help this farming operation. Get involved today!
